Expert explains the three fundamental concepts of business intelligence for
mid-size organizations at Sage Insights 2008
San Jose, CA, April 24
– Joni Girardi and his team have guided mid-size companies into business
intelligence for more than 10 years, and he has some advice: Don’t waste your
money unless you’re going to do it right. That starts with understanding a few
fundamentals.
"Business intelligence
has proven its ROI potential, no doubt about it," said Joni Girardi, session
speaker at Sage Insights 2008. "But when they shop, most mid-market clients and
even many accounting consultants are unaware of the three fundamental concepts
that are critical for selecting a BI system."
Girardi goes into
those concepts in an educational breakout session at Sage Insights 2008.
In the session, Girardi explores the main BI
technologies, the BI competitive market landscape, and ROI (including some less
obvious aspects of ROI).Girardi also looks at the benefits, the costs
and the risks of buying from upper-market or mid-market vendors, how overworked
managers can maintain BI on their own, and how to ensure
prompt ROI.
Successful BI projects
begin with an understanding of the work ahead, says Girardi. With that, leaders
can build efficient, well-planned BI systems.
Over the last 10 years, Girardi and his team have guided mid-size
organizations on the road to improved efficiency, higher profits, and sharper
strategy.
Ultimately, the DataSelf team used that
knowledge to build a BI solution for mid-size organizations: DataSelf Business
Intelligence. At the top of the list of features, the team puts easy and
intuitive reporting. Second, they created a rich set of templates for metrics
and reports to be used out of the box or customized.
Managers in mid-size companies
don’t have time to search for best-practice key performance indicators (or
‘KPIs’) and reports,” says Girardi, “so we provide over 550 templates
ready-made.” The product also includes a ready-made data warehouse and OLAP
cubes designed to work with Sage ERP and CRM systems.
In the long run, users need to be able
to customize the solution to meet changing business conditions. In this regard,
managers find that DataSelf BI is easily adaptable” he said. "They can even
write new reports from scratch faster than they can eat a donut."
Donuts included in
the breakout session.
The session will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 2:15 p.m.
in the Chesapeake Room at Sage Insights 2008. The conference runs May 12 through
15 across the river from Washington, D.C.
