To Date filters
YTD - Year To Date
QTD - Quarter To Date
MTD - Month To Date
These are based on the date of the last data refresh.
Report creators:
- For the YTD attribute, every date has a YTD value of YTD or After YTD. This is based on how many days into the fiscal year it is today (i.e. as of the last data refresh). (So for fiscal years that do not start on the same day of the year each year, and for leap years, the corresponding YTD year may end on different dates.)
Drag the YTD attribute into the Filters box and select YTD.
Display the transaction Year in the rows or columns. - For the QTD attribute, every date has a QTD value of QTD or After QTD. This is based on how many days into the fiscal quarter it is today.
Drag the QTD attribute into the Filters box and select QTD.
Display the transaction Quarter in the rows or columns. This will display a comparative QTD across consecutive quarters.
For YOY (Year over Year) quarters, drag the Relative Qtr Key attribute into the Filters box and select quarters 0, -4, -8 etc for as many years as you wish to go back. - For the MTD attribute, every date has a MTD value of MTD or After MTD. This is based on how many days into the fiscal period it is today.
Drag the MTD attribute into the Filters box and select MTD.
Display the transaction date at the Month level in the rows or columns. This will display a comparative MTD across consecutive months.
For YOY (Year over Year) months, drag the Relative Month Key attribute into the Filters box and select months 0, -12, 24 etc for as many years as you wish to go back.
TIP: Make it clear to the users that the historical periods are ToDate periods, not complete years, months, or quarters.
Title the report clearly.
Reinforce the message by including the TD label in the column headers:
- Add the YTD attribute as the first attribute in columns.
- In the report, right-click on the attribute names and Hide Field Labels for Columns.
